The Fukuoka entrance exams for national, prefectural, and public universities are set to clash with the state exams for pharmacy, and a series of large concerts this coming February. This means that there will be a lack of accommodation available for people visiting the city. The entrance exams are scheduled for Feb. 25 and 26, while prospective pharmacists will also be taking their exams at the same time in nine locations throughout Japan, including Fukuoka. This might not usually be an issue, but music group Exile are set to perform at Marine Messe Fukuoka (capacity approx. 15,000) on Feb. 24 and 25, while singer Namie Amuro is also planning to hold a concert at the Fukuoka Yahuoku! Dome (capacity approx. 38,000) during a similar period. When the number of regular tourists is factored into the equation, it is clear that the city’s accommodation facilities, which can reportedly meet the demands of approx. of 41,000 visitors, will be stretched to the limit.
