This morning at 05:00, Hakata Eki-mae Dori, the road in front of Hakata Station, was reopened after repairs on the sinkhole were completed. All entry restrictions to the surrounding buildings were removed and all utility services restored. A sincere apology was offered by the City of Fukuoka to all those affected by the sinkhole. The Mayor said, “We took careful measures so as not to trigger secondary accidents, and there were no casualties during the the restoration process thanks to the hard work of all who took part of the construction work. From now on our priority is to clarify the cause of the accident and award compensation for any damages caused.
