Heavy snow is expected in sections of the country close to the Sea of Japan. Snow is also forecast in western Japan, especially in regions located near the Pacific Ocean. These conditions are expected to last until tomorrow (Jan. 13). Strong atmospheric pressure has been reported and extremely cold winter winds will continue. Japan’s Automated Meteorological Data Acquisition System (AMEDAS) recorded that approximately 80% of the country experienced sub-zero conditions on the morning of Jan. 11. Nagasaki City reported 6 cm of snow, while Kumamoto City saw 3 cm fall. The weather conditions are expected to cause delays to public transportation. Some test centers are also planning to reschedule college entrance examinations to be held this weekend. Source: Fuji News Network (FNN), 1/11/2018
