Tokyo Stock Exchange and Regional Banks Support Start-ups

In an effort to revitalize the stock market, the securities industry is making efforts to promote and encourage the establishment of new local companies by listing them on the exchange. The Tokyo Stock Exchange strengthened their links with regional banks in order to discover potential new businesses. Mizuho Securities is getting behind regional industries, government, and academic institutions, while SMBC Nikko Securities is supporting student entrepreneurs at Kyushu University. Mizuho Securities is also looking to nurture new business by linking up with institutions that are on the cutting-edge of research. SMBC Nikko Securities participated in the inaugural meeting of Kyushu University’s startup society.
