A facility to support business startups called “FUKUOKA growth next” opened inside the former Daimyo Elementary School in the center of Tenjin, Fukuoka. The Startup Cafe, which first opened in Tsutaya Book Store (Imaizumi), has also relocated to this location.
Providing help to companies just setting out, the Startup Cafe and FUKUOKA growth next, offer support across six types of services, including educational assistance, public-private partnerships, community development, human resources, fundraising and publicity.
This renovated school is expected to accommodate approximately 100 startups and local enterprises in shared offices and communal working areas. The facility is equipped with 3D printers and laser cutters and has welcomed through its doors the likes of Dooday Fab, a DIY space that helps shape ideas. Honey Coffee, well-known independent roaster and cafe and a stand-up bar called “awabar” have also opened.
Holding various events, such as seminars and talks, the Startup Cafe will continue to provide professional consultation from accountants, paralegals, clerks and lawyers, as well as free advice on matters such as recruitment and start-up visas.
