In 1982 Thai Airways began their first regularly scheduled flights between Bangkok from Fukuoka. They now operate a daily flight carrying an ever increasing number of Japanese tourists to Thailand and points beyond. Also in 1982 the Tourism Authority of Thailand opened an office here in Fukuoka to promote tourism in Thailand. Tonight both offices celebrated their 20th anniversary in Fukuoka with officials from their respective head offices and local dignitaries in attendance, including Fukuoka Mayor Takashima.
