Visit the Kyushu National Museum

Understanding the formation of Japanese culture from an Asian historical perspective
A 10-minute walk from Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station, the Kyushu National Museum, with its gently curved exterior, was designed to blend in with the natural surroundings. In addition to exhibition spaces and a large hall, the museum features a cafe, shop, seminar rooms and storage area. Much of the natural scenery around the building has been preserved and each season provides a fresh experience.

Architecture: The environmentally friendly building uses solar and thermal energy.

Open cafe: Enjoy drinks and sweets in a spacious, sunlit atmosphere. (10:30~17:00, Fri. & Sat.: ~20:00)

Museum shop: Boasting a wide variety of original products.

Rainbow Tunnel: A long escalator and passage linking Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine and the museum.

Tea ceremony: Experience Japanese culture at the Homan-tei and Kicho-an tea ceremony rooms.

Garden: Enjoy seasonal views from the footpaths.
