Event 1 ::: Emi Meyer “On The Road” Tour 6/1(Fri.) @ Gate’s 7
Popular singer/songwriter Emi Meyer comes to Fukuoka this weekend! Born in Kyoto and raised in Seattle, Emi’s bi-cultural heritage shines through in her music. In addition to 3 solo albums, Emi is known as the artist behind popular songs of many TV commercials, including “Gogo no Kocha (Afternoon Tea)” for Kirin Beverage Company and “Docomodake” for NTT DOCOMO. Emi will perform at Gate’s 7 on June 1 (Fri.) as part of current tour “On The Road”.

Event 2 ::: Hanmaeum Festival in Fukuoka 6/2 (Sat.) @ Fureai Hiroba, Fukuoka City Hall.
earn more about Korea- one of Fukuoka’s closest neighbours- this weekend! The Korean Consulate is holding an event from 11:00~17:00 on Jun. 2 (Sat.) called “Hanmaeum Festival in Fukuoka”, at Fureai Hiroba, Fukuoka City Hall. The festival’s attractions include Korean performances of K-Pop dance, Japanese traditional dance and Korean music. Food lovers will enjoy the “Korea vs. Japan Food Battle”, with categories including: kimchi vs Japanese pickles, jijim vs okonomiyaki, hotteok vs umegae-mochi and more! Kumamoto Prefecture’s popular mascot Kumamon will also be present, and there are cultural activities such as Korean cooking class, traditional costume trials and Korean traditional games.

Event 3 ::: Tea Ceremony 6/2 (Sat.) @ Tochoji Temple
Experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony at the famous Tochoji temple, as part of the Kukai Gekijo festival. The tea ceremony will be hosted by radio DJ TOGGY and instruction will be given by Sokyo Shimura- a professor of Urasenke. The ceremony runs from 13:00~15:00, and all participants receive an original tea cup memento. Reservations necessary.

Event 4 ::: Noco Noco Rock 6/2 (Sat.) @ Noko Camp Ground
Outdoor music festival Noco Noco Rock comes to Nokonoshima on June 2nd! Enjoy a day of sun, music and friends at the ideal festival location- the “Noko Camp Ground”. Gates open 12:00, acts from 13:00. The lineup features Coronco 3, Tennis Court, Maki Nagayama & Takayuki Ishii and more!

Event 5 ::: La Fiesta 6/3 (Sun.) @ JR Kyushu Hall 9F
Presented by popular local Mexican restaurant Elborracho, we recommend you visit this lively festival on an empty stomach! Featuring live Mariachi musicians, Mexican dancers, Lucha Libre Mexican professional wrestling and of course Mexican food including tacos, burrito, Mexican beer and tequila!

Event 6 ::: Yame Firefly Festival Ongoing ~ 6/10 @ Yame City
Yame city’s annual firefly festival is underway! Until June 10, you can browse the food stalls selling local products as countless fireflies color the night sky. Recommended firefly viewing time is from 20:00~21:00. The festival is happening across Yame, in such areas as Kuroki, Tachibana, Jyoyo, Hoshino. Note: parking is limited and the streets in Yame are narrow, so it’s a good idea to carpool with friends. See the breathtaking sight of Yame’s fireflies.
