Fukuoka Tourist Information Center in Tenjin Re-opens

After being closed for remodelling, the Fukuoka Tourist Information Center, located in the Lion Hiroba in Tenjin, re-opened today. The new facility is 2.3 times bigger than before, and with ceiling walls on three sides, it’s very bright and airy. Tourists can relax on sofa-style seating and use tablets (four) to surf the web for free. Fukuoka City WiFi service is also available. Accommodations can be booked via the Fukuoka Hotel and Ryokan Association desk, and tickets to entertainment can be purchased at a Ticket Pia counter. Tourists can ask the staff for restaurant recommendations (but not reservations); they will help you by searching through the Guranavi website, an informative guide on restaurants in Japan. The center is staffed by English, Korean and Chinese speakers. There are now more racks of tourist information leaflets, and it’s still one of the best places to pick up a copy of Fukuoka Now’s trilingual map of Fukuoka City, “Now Map”, and the latest issue of “Fukuoka Now” magazine. The center is now open seven days a week from 9:30 to 19:00.
