Kyushu Shinkansen ¥500 Anniversary Tickets!

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Kyushu Shinkansen, ¥500 tickets are available for travel on Mar. 12 (Sat.) and Mar. 13 (Sun.). The JR Kyushu’s special one-coin tickets can be used for travel between one station to the next station on the Kyushu Shinkansen line only (regular train; free seating). The tickets can save travelers up to 75%. The discounted tickets are available for purchase between Feb. 12 (Fri.) and Mar. 12 (Sat.). The Shinkansen between Hakata and Kokura is on the Sanyo Shinkansen line and therefore will not accept the one-coin tickets. Tickets can be purchased at any of the twelve stations between Hakata Sta. and Kagoshima Chuo Sta. (Kyushu Shinkansen line), as well as Omuta Sta., Tamana Sta., JR Kyushu Travel branches (Hakata, Kurume, Kumamoto, Kagoshima) and Eki Ryoko Centers (Omuta, Shin-Tamana, Shin-Yatsushiro, and Sendai). During this period, the Kyushu Shinkansen 5th Anniversary Day Pass is also on sale. This ticket gives the traveller unlimited one-day travel on the Kyushu Shinkansen line (regular train; free seating) at just ¥10,000 for an adult, and ¥5,000 for a child. These passes can be purchased at the bigger JR Kyushu stations, JR Kyushu Travel branches, Eki Ryoko Centers and bigger travel agencies. Source: JR Kyushu press release, 2/5
