베이커리키친 라끄루삐

A short walk from Ohori Park, this “bakery kitchen” is so-named for the belief that bread can be an integral part of a meal. The 1st floor houses a bakery shop, while upstairs is a fashionable café space modeled on a New York-style studio. All lunches served in the café come with the option of rice or all-you-can-eat bread. The most popular lunch order is King prawn in tomato cream sauce (¥1,050), which is served with a little more sauce than usual so that you can mop up the excess with some bread. As such, “bread as an integral part of a meal” means that rather than being just an accompaniment, the bread and the other ingredients complement and enhance each other. Several sweet dessert breads, such as French toast, are also on offer. The bread is baked using traditional French techniques and given a modern twist to make it appeal to as many people as possible. The staff are also particular about what goes into their bread, which is all additive-free. Flour from either Kyushu or France is used, depending on the type of bread, and vegetables and eggs are locally-sourced as much as possible. It’s this attention to detail that has won Raggruppi many fans among local bread-lovers.
