Fukuoka Kankyo Zaidan (Environment Foundation), the garbage collection agency in Fukuoka City, has donated a waste collection vehicle to Kiambu County in Kenya. It is hoped that the vehicle will help establish an efficient garbage collection system including collection during the night, a ‘night time collection’ which is unique to Fukuoka city and will reduce congestion during the day. Earlier in 2015, the Fukuoka Method Landfill, a waste treatment method developed in Fukuoka City and now widely known internationally, was constructed in Kiambu county as the first in Africa by UN-Habitat under supervision of Fukuoka University and city engineers.
