Support For Startups Looking To Expand Overseas

On May 8, Fukuoka City opened the “Fukuoka Global Startup Center” to support business ventures looking to expand overseas. Based out of the “Startup Cafe” (Fukuoka City), the scheme will offer consultation on how to pursue sales and exhibit abroad. Advice will also be available to entrepreneurs from overseas looking to set up businesses in Fukuoka. The city has signed an MOU (memorandum of understanding) with places such as Helsinki and Taipei City. Information about startup support facilities in these kinds of locations, as well news about overseas events and exhibitions will be available. Entrepreneurs familiar with the circumstances of specific countries, such as the UK and Israel will also be on hand to provide consultation. Reception hours are 11am~6pm on weekdays, with study sessions and seminars scheduled to be held twice a month. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 5/8/2017
