Xaymaca Tenjin Area

"How do you want your customers to feel?" we asked Xaymaca's irrepressible barman Allen. "Like they're on vacation!". With tropical decor, an excellent reggae soundtrack and welcoming staff, Xaymaca has a relaxed and gregarious atmosphere that provides a real contrast to most of the city's bars. The star attraction is the generous servings of the most authentic Jamaican cuisine in Fukuoka: Allen and owner Kimura-san personally import ingredients from the Caribbean and it's the personal touch that keeps their dishes like Jerk Chicken and Caribbean-style Lamb Curry at a very high standard. Running since 1998, Xaymaca has its devoted and diverse regulars but the long wood bar, informal service and sense of home cooking makes it always feel inclusive. Central location makes it ideal for a post-work bite, or for beginning a long evening in Oyafuko-dori. Cozy rather than spacious, the bar also has some outdoor seating in the Summer. Xaymaca attracts Japanese and international people alike and if you're in the mood to talk then there's few better places.
