Treasures From the Country of the Lake

Omi is in Shiga Prefecture and was known as a center of Buddhist culture with close ties to Dazaifu. Come and enjoy an exhibit of select artifacts including paintings, statues, and items used for worship with its strong Buddhist influences, this spectacular collection is a must-see.

World Fireworks Competition Vol. 2
August 14 (Sat)-September 18 (Sat) | 축제An international competition held on five days in August and September. Awards winning pyrotechnicians from Japan, China, Portugal, America and France compete for glory. The fireworks show by Japanese pyrotechnicians will be held on August 14 and last year's champion, China will be held on the 21st.

Sunset Live 2010
September 03 (Fri)-05 (Sun) | 라이브Covering all genres from reggae to rock to J-pop, this long-running outdoor festival is one of the biggest in Kyushu. Kurume Yakitori Festival
September 04 (Sat)-05 (Sun) | 축제40,000 people attended this large-scale event celebrating the Kurume specialty Yakitori (skewers of grilled chicken) last year. Now in its 8th year, the theme this time is "Eat local", and chicken from Kurume farms will be getting skewered and grilled in all sorts of ways. Stalls close as soon as they sell out, so be sure to get there early!

Focus On Asia Fukuoka International Film Festival 2010
September 17 (Fri)-26 (Sun) | 축제Showing 41 films from 18 Asian countries, notable works include the Chinese film Dooman River, which tells a story of friendship between Chinese and North Korean boys. Indonesian horror flick Pintu Terlarang is among the other invited works. Most films have English subtitles. Korean Modern Art Wave

Asian Pacific Festival Fukuoka 2010
