Fukuoka Tower Gets Bomb Threat, School Evacuated

On June 19, the Fukuoka Prefectural Police received an e-mail threatening to bomb Fukuoka Tower at 10:00 on June 20. The Police notified Fukuoka Tower of the threat, which decided not to open as usual at 9:30. As a precautionary measure, 540 students were evacuated from the nearby Momochihama Elementary School. A Nishitetsu bus that runs near the Tower was also temporarily re-routed. Once Fukuoka Tower confirmed the safety of the premises, it opened just before noon. The Sawara Police Station is investigating the threat as a case of forcible obstruction of business. Source: Asahi.com, June 20.
