Adding the seemingly endless options of places to shop in this city, LAOX, the famous electronic goods and duty free from Tokyo opened their first store in Kyushu on the 4th floor of Canal City Hakata just before Golden Week 2012. Fukuoka Now visited the shop on the opening day and took these photos. There’s electronic gadgets, cameras, appliances, cosmetics, watches and jewelry. For overseas visitors there’s a wide selection of souvenirs – including some bizarre towels with illustrations of geisha that become “more revealing” after coming into contact with water – a cheap and quirky gift idea. Non-resident foreigners enjoy tax free shopping.
