JR Chikuhi Line to Test New Platform Safety Door

Minoru Mukiya, the ex-keyboard player of popular Japanese fusion band called Casiopea, has designed lighter subway platform safety doors that will be tested along the Chikuhi line. Mukiya has long been a fan of railways and now runs a company that develops simulators used by train operators called Nippon Signal. The company is working to produce a new set of platform safety doors to be completed in March 2017. JR Kyushu is hoping to test them at Kyudaitoshi Station on the Chikuhi Line in the summer. The new doors will reduce costs and help prevent accidents on platform. Source: Mainichi Shinbun, Dec. 18, 2016
