Cafe Ands Andz

We receive more requests for reports on vegetarian restaurants than any other genre of cuisine. While Ands Andz does not bill itself as a vegetarian restaurant, it certainly serves a lot of vegetable dishes at prices that most can afford. The emphasis on vegetables comes from one of the three owners who runs a vegetable shop nearby. The Detox Lunch Set includes eight to ten varieties of seasonal and prepared vegetables, a bowl of brown rice (Nigata-san koshihikari), organic miso shiru, a dish of assorted seasonal fruits, and a cup of organic tea or organic coffee for just ¥850. In the evening the Bangohan Plate offers a similar, but even more substantial mini-smorgasbord of vegetable dishes. The regular menu is filled with all kinds of creative dishes including the Vegetable Lasagne, made with layers of vegetables instead of pasta. The Ten Veggie Variety Salad is huge, even by international standards, and only for a surprisingly low ¥500! Next, what better way to chase all those greens down with than a glass of their original and freshly blended Detox Juice ¥450. And who says deserts can’t be healthy? Go on, check-out the desert case filled with freshly baked cakes, tarts, and more! Ideal for a healthy lunch, leisurely tea and sweets in the afternoon, or a nutritious night-time meal.
