Scandinavian dishes served in lovely cafe with goods and art on display and for sale.
During a trip through Europe five years ago café manager Yoshimizu discovered, and fell in love with, Scandinavian culture. Convinced that the Japanese would also appreciate Scandinavian foods, furnishings, art and accessories, Yoshimizu decided to open Dalahast Cafe in Yakuin. Four years later Dalahast Cafe is not only renowned for its tasty and authentic Scandinavian dishes, but also for hosting small art, film, and live-music events. The spacious wood-floored room has sofa seating, square tables, and a counter from which a shelf display of small goods, accessories and packaged foods can be browsed. Pictured here is the Swedish Lunch (1,200 yen, served only on weekends and national holidays), which includes Gravad Lax (salmon), red cabbage salad, green pea soup, Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, lingonberries, Jansson’s Temptation (potatoes au gratin), two slices of fresh dark bread, and a green salad. Wow! Top this off with a fine cup of Vivace coffee or a Swedish tea. Try the Finnish farm-style hot apple cake with ice cream or their new Norwegian waffles if you still have room!
