This is the biggest festival of the year in Kitsuki, Oita Pref., a town which is referred to locally as little Kyoto. There will be several parades of samurai and princesses as well as performances of Taishu-engeki (a genre of Japanese Drama), traditional dances and Oiran-dochu (a nighttime parade of geisha). Travel back in time at this historic festival! For those who prefer something a little more modern, there will also be some performances at the main stage.
