In late July, Hajime Dohi and his wife Mariko opened a new bakery near Kafuri, and it’s already booming! After perfecting his skills at many bakeries around Japan and overseas in Düsseldorf, Germany, he now bakes 25 to 30 varieties daily. The most popular include Anpan, Creme Pan, and Raison Creme Cheese. All the fillings are made on-site and some with vegetables from a family-run farm. One of our favorite items is the shop is the Yakisoba Roll. But why make a sandwich of noodles? It turns out that Hajime’s family are noodle makers so this is his way to continue his family’s business – and we love it! The shop opens at 8 am and the earlier you get there, the better the selection! There’s an eat-in space, coffee, and juices too. Note: This shop opened under the name “Umegae Bakery” but changed to Coume Bakery as of October 1, 2020. Only the name has changed, everyone and everything there is as good or even better!
