Fukuoka Prefecture announced revisions for its ‘Fukuoka Corona Warning,’ as risks of the omicron variant increase in Japan. The new system simply reflects the occupancy rate of the secured hospital beds for the new coronavirus treatment; the ‘Warning’ takes effect when the percentage reaches 15% and the ‘Special Warning’ at 30%. The amendment aims to enable a more quick response to the potential spike in the number of new infections. Also, once the warnings are issued, different business regulations will apply for local eateries depending on the reception of the prefecture’s COVID-19 safety recognitions.
