Controversy Erupts over Miyama and Yanagawa Michi-no-Eki Locations

The cities of Miyama and Yanagawa in Fukuoka Prefecture plan to build Michi-no-Eki shops that specialize in the sale of local products, but a controversy has developed over their location. Both cities plan on placing the shops on National Highway #443, but they would be only 4-5 kilometers apart. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport specifies that the distance between these shops be at least 10 kilometers. Highways are becoming a desirable location for retail outlets, and many large retail stores have opened there recently. Miyama was the first to release a specific construction plan, making the situation more difficult for Yanagawa.
