First Rise in New Kyushu Factory Placements in Four Years

The Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade, and Industry released a preliminary report on the number of new factory placements in Kyushu in 2011. There were 91 such instances, a rise of six from the previous year. The average area for each factory also increased by 53.3 hectares. This was the first increase in both categories in four years. The bureau notes, however, that there was a sharp plunge in factory construction after the economic downturn of 2008, and that the number of new factories and their average size in 2011 were the third lowest in the time they’ve been keeping records.
