Fukuoka-based Artist Creates Eco-Bag To Help Hearing Impaired Shop

A Kurume-residing manga artist, Ryunosuke Hiramoto, created a unique reusable bag (eco bag) to support people with hearing disabilities. The artist, who is listening impaired, faced difficulty handling otherwise simple communications at shop cashiers as the spread of the new coronavirus covered shop clerks’ faces wearing masks. He came up with an idea of combining ‘eco bag’ and communication board and created illustrations to convey messages such as “please heat the food” and “I’d like to use a point card.” The bag (¥800~¥1,000) could also be a useful tool for foreigners who have difficulty communicating in Japanese.
