Kyushu Electric Power opened the Kyushu Power Academy on June 1 to provide instruction to students from throughout Kyushu and Asia in electrical engineering. The school will be operated jointly with local businesses and universities. The utility hopes to convey to the students the importance of electrical engineering and its prospects now that increasing numbers of young people are losing interest in the sciences.
