The National Tax Agency released its land valuations for the current fiscal year, and attention focused on values near the JR stations in three cities along the route that had risen in the past. The current valuations show that the most recent impact has been mixed. Land values had soared near the JR station in Fukuoka City, due in part to the influx of cash from investment funds. This influx has stopped, however, and land values fell as a result. Meanwhile, values near the station in Kumamoto City rose, while those near the station in Kagoshima City remained stable.
