Kyushu Electric Power announced that sales of power to large consumers in December 2009 rose 1.7% to 1.87400 KwH, the first monthly increase since September 2008. Contributing to the rise was the uptick in the production of automobiles and chemical products. There was also a rise in the power consumption by factories and other users from the year-before period, which is considered an indicator of an economic recovery.
