The once-popular Maharajah Fukuoka disco has temporarily suspended operations due to a shortage of customers. The company operating the establishment says it has no timetable for reopening the dancehall. The Maharajah was a disco chain that dominated the competition during the bubble economy period, and the Fukuoka outlet reopened in December 2007 after a ten-year absence. It was initially popular with people in their 40s who enjoyed reliving their youth, but it has since fallen on hard times.
