Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Nishitetsu) announced that revenue from its expressway buses during the Silver Week holidays dropped 1.8% from the year-before period despite a 3.7% increase in ridership. The company had reduced fares to compete with the lower expressway tolls during the holiday period, but it did not translate into higher revenue. The company hinted it might reduce its expressway bus service next April in the same way it recently cut back on route bus service.
