Non-compliant Pachinko Parlours to be Publicly Outed / Two more dancers from Kurume Cluster Test Positive / Schools Closed until May 8

On Apr. 27, Fukuoka Prefecture announced nine more confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections, including two additional cases linked to the suspected cluster at the Mabini nightclub in Kurume City. The two new cases involve women who worked as dancers at the Phillipina and Love Chain, two other nightclubs in Kurume City. To lessen the potential for more clusters, the Fukuoka Governor Ogawa has instructed officials to openly name pachinko parlors that continue as of 10:00 on Apr. 29 to operate since closure directives were issued. According to the Governor, 22 pachinko parlors fall into this group. Also, Fukuoka Prefecture decided to extend the closures of prefectural schools until May 8. The new reopening date of May 11 might be rescheduled pending the status of the national state of emergency. Fukuoka City and Kitakyushu City’s boards of education have announced the same policy. The cumulative total of the virus infection in Fukuoka Prefecture reached 621 as of Apr. 27. Sources: NHK / Asahi / Nikkei  (NOTE: correction made to the date mentioned in the above text)
