Outpatients Avoiding Hospitals – No New Infections for Four Consecutive Days

Fears of becoming infected with the COVID-19 are discouraging people from visiting medical institutions. While some local medical institutions reported a 15% decline in the number of outpatients in April, Fukuoka’s medical association advises people to visit medical services to take preventative care for high blood pressure, cancer diagnosis, and other conditions. On May 21, there were no new cases of COVID-19 infection found in Fukuoka Prefecture, setting a new record of four consecutive days. The prefecture recorded only one instance in the past week (5/15 ~ 21), and the cumulative total remains at 658. Additionally, 573 patients have recovered from the disease as of May 20.
