Prefecture Population Tops 5.11 Million, Sets Record

Fukuoka Prefecture recently released the “Annual Report of Population and Households in Fukuoka Prefecture,” which compiles population trends up through last September. The population as of Oct. 1, 2018 stood at a record high 5,111,494, marking a year-on-year increase of 1,156 and the 23rd consecutive increase since the surveys began in 1995. At 12,261, Fukuoka City experienced the biggest year-on-year population increase, followed by Fukutsu (+1,500) and Itoshima (+910). Increases were only recorded in and around Fukuoka City, as the population continues to concentrate in the metropolitan area. Source: fiba.jp
