Last year’s rate hike helped Kyuden reduce its deficit, but the cost of fuel for its fossil fuel-burning power plants kept the company firmly in the red. With nuclear power plant restarts not expected until at least after the new year, it is highly likely that Kyuden will end up reporting a loss for fiscal 2014.
