Old electronics are an important source gold, silver and rare earth metals that can be reused. Fukuoka has offered electronics recycling since June 2010 in partnership with a Kitakyushu-based recycler. Around 22,000 devices were collected in 2011, yielding 146 g of gold, 590 g of silver, 109 kg of bronze and 29 g of palladium. Since many people move in March, the City reminds residents to drop their old electronics off at one of its green collection boxes around the city. For a detailed list of locations and accepted devices, check the link below (Japanese only).
