As part of its 2014 building expansion plans, Fukuoka PARCO in Tenjin has announced that the lifestyle and hobby giant Tokyu Hands is in the final stages of agreement to become a new tenant. The Tenjin Tokyu Hands will be smaller than the existing JR Hakata City branch, and will be targeted towards women - focusing on cosmetics, health goods and kitchenware - part of the company’s “Hands Be” brand. It’s the first time for Tokyu Hands to open inside a PARCO store. It will be located in PARCO’s new building - currently under construction on the land adjacent to the existing PARCO store in Tenjin. The new building will be six floors high, with three basement levels. Tokyu Hands will occupy the top level/s. Nationwide department store PARCO has been open in Tenjin since March 2010. Construction of the new building is now underway slated to be completed by autumn 2014. PARCO will also expand into Solaria Stage by spring 2015. With the increased floor space of two buildings and extra space in Solaria Stage, PARCO will become one the largest department stores in Tenjin, contributing to increasing the appeal of the Fukuoka Tenjin area as Kyushu’s commercial center.
