Well-known Itoshima artist-run gallery, studio and residency programme Studio Kura will host an exhibition this coming weekend featuring the work of six international artists currently working at the space. The artists come from Australia, United States, Indonesia, Brazil, United Kingdom and New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Caitlin Bowe, Australia: \u201ckeep me far from harm and fault\u201d<\/a><\/strong>

\nExhibition style: Sculpture
\nCaitlin is an emerging artist based in Adelaide, working in the field of sculpture. Looking at beliefs and symbols of protection as her main theme for this show, she mixes Japanese imagery with Victorian mourning aesthetics and symbols from her own Celtic heritage which explore beliefs surrounding the idea of protection through sculptural forms. <\/p>\n

Rino Kodama, United States: \u201cHomecoming\u201d<\/a> <\/strong>

\nExhibition style: installation\/wearable art\/drawings
\nBorn in Singapore to Japanese parents and raised in California for the majority of her life, it is her first time to stay in Japan this long for four weeks. Studying Fine Arts and Asian American Studies at university, Rino expands on themes of family and belonging, showing drawings and new wearable art using her grandma’s old kimono in her exhibition.<\/p>\n

Davin Saputra, Indonesia: \u201cFigure in Filaments\u201d<\/a><\/strong>

\nExhibition style: Digital Sculpting and 3d printing
\nA 3D artist from Indonesia, Davin is interested in creating character art which include figure sculpting, portraiture, and anatomy studies. At his exhibition, he plans to present his keen studies of figure sculpting as well as results from his first time using a 3D printer.<\/p>\n

Eleonora Allan, Brazil: \u201cEntre Deux\u201d<\/a><\/strong>

\nExhibition style: Video installation
\nEleonora Allan from Concordia University, Montreal is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily with drawing, video and performance art. She aims to show a poetic video installation in Studio 1. Her nostalgic flyer gives an impression of old 16mm film images. Look forward to her final result! <\/p>\n

Lesly Holliday, United Kingdom: \u201cSKIES, KITES & CRABS\u201d<\/a><\/strong>

\nExhibition style: print and paint
\nHaving experience of teaching Art & Art History, Lesly works on figurative and traditional painting and printmaking. In her exhibition, she combines skies, crabs and kite-making via paint and printmaking through the seasonal changes of weather.
