Visitors can participate and help to pull the rope down too. Head to the <em>shamusho<\/em> (an area where the <em>omamori<\/em> and <em>omikuji<\/em> are sold) on the day and let them know you want to participate. Be sure to write a wish for the year on a paper called <em>kigansho<\/em> by 10:00 so it can be included within the straw of the <em>shimenawa<\/em> as an offer to the gods.
