The deep red of the flowers is said to create a wonderful contrast against the golden rice stalks. Keep an eye out for the scarecrows in the surrounding terraces. Join the Basara Festival too &#8211; walk around the area, chat with the locals, and enjoy local food such as grilled <em>yamame<\/em> trout.
