Their collection includes Asian films and movies that have links to the Fukuoka area. Each month the movie hall organizes themed screenings. In February, they will be showcasing a series of classic Chinese movies that explore themes such as war and revolution. The National Film Archive of Japan and the China Film Archive have worked together on this event, which traces Chinese cinema’s development from the 1930s through to the so-called fifth generation. A total of 16 movies will be shown with Japanese subtitles, including Mulan Joins the Army (1939), which was one of the few Chinese films released in Japan during the pre-war period. Also, keep an eye out for The Story of Qiu Ju (1992), a critically acclaimed comedy-drama that won the Golden Lion and Best Actress awards at the Venice Film Festival.

Mulan Joins the Army (1939)

• 2/3 (Wed.) ~ 3/7 (Sun.)
• Check the Cine-la website for screening schedules.
• Closed：Mon., Theater closed: Tue.
• Fukuoka City Public Library, Movie Hall Cine-la
• Adult: ¥600, College & HS: ¥500, JHS & ES: ¥400, over 65 y.o.:¥300 *ID req.
• 3-7-1 Momochihama, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka
• 092-852-0600
• http://www.cinela.com/gaiyou_20210203.html

Note: The situation regarding the spread of the COVID-19 virus changes daily.
