<\/p>\nThomas Glover was a Scottish native who owned Glover House in Nagasaki. Glover was a merchant who brought many items and goods to Japan towards the Tokugawa shogunate. He was highly decorated for his achievements and recognized as an important figure during the Meiji Restoration. This exhibition looks at the Western technology that Glover helped introduce to Japan. The event focuses on the steam engine, a mode of transport that significantly influenced the Japanese Industrial Revolution. A replica of the Glover residence will be constructed at the venue and the mechanism that operates the steam engine. There will also be displays providing information about Thomas Glover’s achievements and other steam-themed installations!<\/p>\n
