The event, recognized as one of Japan\u2019s three main fire festivals, welcomes visitors looking to pray for good fortune and ward off harm for the year ahead. One of the festival\u2019s most spectacular rituals involves a group of participants dressing up as ogres and hiding inside one of the shrine\u2019s buildings.
