These wishes are written on strips of paper, known as tanzaku, and offered as prayers. A unique feature of this festival at Hakozaki Shrine is a calligraphy performance, in which local celebrities use a colossal brush – three meters long and weighing eight kilograms – to inscribe characters on Japanese paper. This act represents a communal commitment to children’s growth and happiness.

The festival runs from July 1 to approximately July 7. During this period, a designated area is set up in front of Hakozaki Shrine’s main hall for anyone wishing to write their hopes and dreams on tanzaku. After inscribing your wishes, tie them onto bamboo branches, a customary practice during the Tanabata Festival.

• 7/7 (Fri.)
• 16:00~
• Free entry
• Hakozakigu Shrine
• 1-22-1 Hakozaki, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka
• https://www.hakozakigu.or.jp/omatsuri/tanabatasai/
• https://www.instagram.com/hakozakigu.official/

The Tanabata Festival, one of the five enduring seasonal festivals, is a cherished tradition wherein individuals express their aspirations for progress in academics and crafts…

["post-154614","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","location-higashi-ku","event-type-festival","en-US
["GET
