Celebrate the bounty of the autumn harvest with a magnificent festival dedicated to Nagasaki’s patron deity at Suwa Shrine. During the festival period, the festive atmosphere pervades throughout the city, providing ample opportunities for enjoyment.<\/p>\n

The centerpiece of the festival is the “Dedication Dance” performed by various neighborhoods within the city. Recognized as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property by the Japanese government, these dances are imbued with Nagasaki’s unique blend of exoticism and tradition.<\/p>\n

After the dances are performed at four venues with designated spectator seating, additional performances known as “Niwasakimawari” take place in front of homes and shops. It’s highly recommended to explore the city on foot to catch these intimate shows.<\/p>\n
