Participants are styled as a traditional Hakata geigi with professional white makeup, a Japanese-style wig, a formal black tomesode kimono, and a Hakata-ori kenjo obi tied in the distinctive yanagi style. The full preparation takes about 90 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Afterward, participants can spend around an hour strolling through the historic streets of Hakata Old Town, home to numerous temples and shrines. Unlike a standard kimono or yukata dressing experience, this program offers the chance to experience the complete look of a Hakata geigi while exploring the neighborhood where the tradition has long been part of local culture.
