This year&#8217;s festival has been dubbed the \u201c300,000 person &#8216;Cheers under the Cherry Blossoms&#8217; festival\u201d and it is sure to be a pleasant and festive time. Kurume is famous nationwide for it&#8217;s &#8216;B-Gourmet&#8217;, so there\u2019s a range of great food options available including many famous yakitori vendors in attendance! The main event is a parade of portable shrines made from sake barrels. Those wanting to participate in the parade should inquire in advance for more details and to reserve a spot. Other events include blessings at Suitengu Shrine (a Shinto shrine dedicated to water) to purify Kurume&#8217;s local sake spirits, along with performances of taiko, COOL MB (a local Kurume musician), belly-dancing and more.
