This month, Studio Kura, located in the beautiful Itoshima countryside, will present seven exhibitions introducing its current AiR (Artist in Residence) artists; Betty Susiarjo, Vieno James, Alexander James Romero, Emilie Lang, Ruby Silvious, Zac Grenfell, and Ashley Yeo Yakka. The Studio Kura AiR program offers foreign artists a chance to draw inspiration and create works from the surrounding Japanese rural scenery, as well as end their journey with their very own exhibition at the studio\u2019s gallery. During the artist\u2019s four or eight-week long stay, the program also provides a meeting point between AiR participants and artists or art enthusiasts from the local community. From 15:00 on Jun. 25 (Sat.), there will be an opening party and talks by the artists. <\/p>\n

\nThis New York-based art student presents \u201cOf Rice and Cotton\u201d. His works have been showcased in various cities of the United States, and show an awareness of discrimination and prevalent social issues.<\/p>\n
\nThis Denver-based art student presents \u201cKeys\u201d. His interest in the dual existence of both Japanese modern technology and Japanese traditional mediums such as woodblock printing, is integrated into his works, which have been showcased across Denver.<\/p>\n
\nThis Australia-based self-taught visual artist presents \u201cLandscape Geometry\u201d. Art has been a part of her life since she was a child, and she now uses acrylics in her abstract paintings of landscapes.<\/p>\n
\nThis New York-based artist and graphic designer presents \u201cReinterpreting Tradition\u201d. She recycles daily items and turns them into art, one particular series \u2013363 Days of Tea\u2013 becoming widespread in Europe, Asia and Africa.<\/p>\n
\nThis Australia-based artist presents \u201cOvergrown with Happiness\u201d. Having spent his earlier years in the countryside, he incorporates his love of nature into his art and invents surreal characters.<\/p>\n
\nThis Singapore-based multidisciplinary artist presents \u201cSensitivities\u201d. With a Masters in Fine Arts, she has displayed her works, which use drawing, installation and sculpture, in the United States and Germany.<\/p>\n
