In the hot Kyushu sun, it\u2019s difficult to do anything \u2013 for both man and beast. So take advantage of Fukuoka Zoo\u2019s limited run of night openings, every Sat. between 8\/6 and 9\/10! The animals are more active in the dark\u2013 you can see nocturnal animals in action such as lions and leopards, as well as flamingos and penguins which look equally beautiful in the light. Follow the caretakers substituting as night-time tour guides to see all the different night-time spots. You can take your children to the petting zoo, or to the screening area, where animals are screened on 4K display (the zoo is collaborating with Sony Store Tenjin). Having the hot summer night sweats? Visit the Cool Cool Zoo, which sells cooling treats such as ice cream and popsicles! You\u2019ll see the animals also enjoying their share of cooling ice blocks. Aiming for a more romantic night? Take a stroll in the Botanical Garden and walk amongst the garden\u2019s beautiful night-blooming flowers, including those that only bloom at night. You can carry around a chochin<\/em> (paper lantern), which changes colors, for a more eye-catching experience! Don\u2019t miss a ride on the illuminated Night Garden Train, the zoo\u2019s new attraction. Other fun events include nighttime tree climbing, a BBQ event, and much more. And if you\u2019re looking for a ride, you can catch the \u201cZoo Bus\u201d, a free shuttle bus available every twenty minutes and running between 17:00~21:00 every day of the event. The bus runs between Heiwadai Track and Field, Ohorikoen Sta. and the front gate of the Botanical Garden.<\/p>\n
