This year\u2019s theme is &#8216;<em>Ganbare<\/em> Kyushu ~praying for earthquake disaster reconstruction~&#8217;. Amongst the lantern installations will be a 5,000 lantern recreation of Kumamoto Castle. The event is also celebrating the 70th anniversary of the popular Japanese comic \u2018Sazae-san\u2019. Food and drink stalls will be positioned near the attractions and a donations box for Kumamoto earthquake relief can be found in the festival\u2019s headquarters.
